Excellence in Excellence

You want to succeed?
You want to be the best there is?
You want to be all that you, people who love you and the society at large expects/wants from you?

if yes, then, from today, stop all half-measures.

Excel at Excellence!

Our success depends on our ability to be excellent in everything we think , say , and do.
Our success depends on our ability to consistently excel at everything.

Let it be said that everything 'this person' does is of such quality, such finesse, such thought, you cannot but admire his work ethic.

Let it be said that there is nothing mundane, nothing insignificant, nothing in-consequential for him.

Let it be said he does one thing and one thing only, he excels - it doesn't matter what it is.

Create lasting Memories...for yourself! THE VISITING CARD PROJECT!

Visiting cards/ business cards / calling cards whatever you call them, they define you!

Dont think so? when was the last time you met someone and did any of the following:

1. Handover your visiting card with aplomb, deference and in a funny way almost like a note from your mum to the school teacher?
(the correct way to offer one of course is a take on the Japanese bow.

source | http://blog.asiahotels.com/2008/06/page/2/
Just change the hand positions to outstretched with the card held by the corner in both hands).

2.Apologize for not carrying your visiting card?
I feel awful too.  Its almost like not knowing your name anymore... think short term memory loss!

3. Look at the visiting card your visitor/guest/client handed you and tell yourself "that is the kind of card I should carry!"

Well, if you said yes to any one of the above, YOUR VISITING CARD DEFINES YOU!

That's not bad, no not at all.  On the contrary, me thinks that is so awesome that I actually went into a memory tailspin on coming across some of the cards that I have used over the years.

I haven't changed too many companies, but did change designations & hotels at the Taj, and later changed visiting card designs from my own firm.  I let the memories flood me and then realized that some cards were missing.  that made me sad!

So, I have decided to launch a new Project - the VISITING CARD PROJECT

I will store your visiting cards till such time as you might want to look at them again or share them with someone!

You can send me your cards in hard copy (actual cards) 1 - 3 cards or scan them and mail them to me.

I will put it up on another blog, with the relevant links etc.

YOU CAN THEN LOOK AT THEM, ADMIRE THEM, SHARE THEM, GET NOSTALGIC whenever you like!

Send me your visiting cards NOW!!

Interview Skills| Perfect practice makes perfect performance! 5 Ways to Practice

As with any performance ,such as acting or public speaking, the more you practice the better you will get at it.

It's not enough to know the answers. You must be able to deliver them in the best possible way.

More importantly, practice should be such that you can eliminate what are seemingly obstructions in your communication. so must be learn and improve with each practice session. merely doing the same thing over & over again, may just prove harmful rather than helpful.

here are my 5 suggestions for practicing:

1. Write all your answers & have them approved by a language expert
At a campus recruitment session once, I noticed all the students making the same grammatical error, until I realized that the mistake was a result for blind cut-copy-paste method for resume building.

2. Record your answers on a tape/CD/Computer/Phone/recording device & listen to them
You will notice your pitch, volume, speech slurs, use of fillers like hmmm, etc. Keep correcting this and keep re-recording till you get it right.

3. Once you think it is perfect, get it approved by a speech expert/ or someone you think has a good ear. correct what they tell you to and re-record.

4. Now stand in front of a mirror & practice.

5. Confident? good. Now record the same on a video recorder/camera phone and again show it to friends/family/mentor etc.

remember, Perfect practice makes perfect performance.

Interview Skills| Because interviews are so predictable, they are controllable!

Because interviews are so predictable, they are controllable.

Most interviews are being held to hire somebody.
That means that you already know what the activity is for, IT IS ALL HAPPENING FOR YOU!

I sincerely beleive that. What I also beleive is that there are very few creative interviewers. most of them ask the same questions wanting the standard answers. If you can tell them what they want to hear, you are in. Trust me, they are dying to get you in, unfortunately, the interviewer needs to make sure you are the one.

So here's what you can do to crack that predictable interview.
They are all looking for  3 absolutely necessary skills (click to see them)

And here is the question that WILL BE ASKED IN EACH INTERVIEW - Tell me something about yourself?
I can bet you a thousand that this is the question the interviewer will ask you while they flip thru your resume.  Want to know how the answer it? Click here

I am in the process of compiling answers for more questions.  In the meantime look at some other questions that are asked:

How You Adapted Your Communication?
What Have You Done To Challenge Your Abilities?
Example In Which You Used Your Ability to Think Quickly?
How do you make certain that other people understand your ideas?

Post the interview, all of them will appreciate these 3 Things (click to see them)

& before I end,  do not forget to use The Magical 3 Step Telling Process!
